About County of Wellington

The County is responsible for solid waste services to approximately 33,320 households. This includes the operation of one active landfill site and five public drop-off facilities, as well as the management of 16 closed landfill sites.

Products & Services

We provide a full user pay collection programme for both curbside and public drop-off of waste to maximize diversion from landfill and to reduce costs. Diversion programmes include: blue box recyclables, organics, leaf and yard waste, electronics, household hazardous waste (one mobile depot and five permanent select HHW depots), textiles, tires, concrete and rubble, wood and brush, scrap metal, white goods, three reuse centres and a reuse website.  In addition to waste management and diversion activities, we have also established pollinator habitat and food sources at our closed landfill sites and will continue to expand this initiative to all 17 landfill properties.
